Why?  Start with things you know, understand, and feel comfortable with.  You build new knowledge on what you already know.  So warm up your brain with a workout there.

Skim through the chapter to find places that look familiar and friendly. 

Start reading in a friendly place. 

If this works for you, go on to the next section or to the next friendly section. 

When you feel like it, go back to the beginning and start reading. Watch for connections to your friendly places.
