The Hunters |
We do not plan. We do not talk. We act. We must have a plan we believe in. We must have a target that we will recognize when we get there. We must have the whole head behind us. We’ll work on minor targets, like winning a game. We’ll work on big targets, like winning at work. But we have to see the goal. You must show us a target we can hunt. You may know us by other names: Motivation. Drive. Push.
We are the can-do people. We do not fail. We can run and not be weary. We are the fire in the belly. We look down the rapids and see the paths around the rocks. We may meet a temporary setback. We may need to change targets. We may learn what does not work. But we do not fail. In any case, don’t get in our way. |
The Engineers |
We make plans. We plan with language the Hunters can see. We make plans to suit long-term objectives if we get them from the Vulcans. We make plans the Hunters can believe.
We make plans the Storyboarders can use as a story. If you need motivation, get your Engineer on the job. Get your Engineer to start planning. Because your Hunter will not hunt without plans. |
The Storyboarders |
We make plans into stories. We run the theater of the mind. We run stories about how plans work out. We run stories about how it feels to win. We run stories about how the Hunter reaches the goal. We help the Hunter see the target. If you need motivation, get your Storyboader on the job. Have your Storyboarder run a story that will entice the Hunter. Hunters will only hunt goals they can see. Storyboarders let you see the goal before you get there. |
The Vulcans |
We keep track of long-term objectives. We forecast. We see the probable results of choices. Short hunts will work without us. But a long hunt needs a Vulcan to keep it going. Motivation requires the long lens of the Vulcan. |
